**Key lights do the heavy lifting, not your pricey lens.**

When you’re streaming, the first thing the viewer notices is the lighting, not the focal length. A crisp, well‑dosed **Godox SL60W** or **Aputure Light Storm LS50** can bring your face into focus and kill those creepy shadows that even the sharpest 85mm will miss. The signal chain starts with light, then goes to the mic, camera sensor, and finally the encoder. If the light’s off, every other component is wasted.

**Pro tip:** Use a softbox or bounce card on the key light to diffuse harshness and add a subtle rim on the subject. Position the key at 45° to the camera and just below eye level; that angle keeps the eye line natural while preventing glare on lenses. A cheap, 2‑inch diffuser can be swapped in on the fly—no need to shell out for a new lens.
